Pender Early College's First Morehead-Cain Scholarship Winner
Diego Camposeco has been offered the Morehead-Cain Scholarship! The Morehead-Cain provides a full four-year scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that includes:
· An annual stipend that covers full tuition and all other normal expenses, including student fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, travel, and miscellaneous
· Laptop computers for all entering freshmen
· A fully funded, four-year Summer Enrichment Program beginning the summer before the freshman year
· Discovery Fund grants of up to $8,000 total over the course of four years at Carolina to be used for educational opportunities
The total value of the scholarship over the four years is approximately $80,000 for in-state residents and $140,000 for out-of-state residents.
Less than four percent of this year’s Morehead-Cain applicants are receiving this. Diego is among an elite and distinguished group. Diego is also one of five students who will graduate in four years with a high school diploma and a two year Associate Degree from Cape Fear Community College. Pender Early College is a five year program where students simultaneously earn high school and college credits. Pender Early College is proud of all the accomplishments our students make and look forward to many more great things to come in the years ahead.
